Breastfeeding Counsellor &Postnatal Doula

Nurturing New Parents

I'm Joanna and I am a London-based Breastfeeding Counsellor and Postnatal Doula. I offer support to both new and expectant parents to help families adjust to life with their new baby or babies. This includes breastfeeding support as well as holistic and ongoing support as a Postnatal Doula. Over the last nine years, I have supported hundreds of new and expectant parents with feeding their babies and toddlers as well as with related issues such as sleep and physical and mental health.

Why have a postnatal doula?

A Postnatal Doula offers practical and emotional support to new parents in the early weeks of their baby's life so they can spend as much time as possible getting to know their baby and resting. Each family's needs are different so the role of a Postnatal Doula varies from one day to the next. It may include preparing nourishing food for the family, supporting a new mother as she recovers from pregnancy & birth and sitting alongside her as she feeds her baby, hanging out the washing or taking care of older children.

Many new parents are surprised by just how often a newborn baby feeds and may find it useful to talk through concerns and challenges as they learn more about life with their baby. A Breastfeeding Counsellor can offer practical and emotional support with breastfeeding, expressing, combination feeding, paced bottle feeding and introducing solid foods. This may be before your baby or babies are born, shortly afterwards or as they grow older.
